Obama Administration Says Michigan Needs Health Reform Now
Nov 23, 2009
Automotive & Business

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
Obama Administration officials say cities like Detroit will face an overwhelming cost burden…unless Congress passes health care reform.

WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter has more…

The U-S Senate is preparing to debate it’s version of health care reform.

And members of the Obama Administration are on the stump…promoting what they say will be the benefits if either the House or Senate versions of reform are approved.

During a conference call…Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebeilus said reform is vital for a city like Detroit…where Administration officials say the population is over-represented in jobs offering no health insurance…or very costly premiums.

“So doing nothing would just…I would suggest…continue to increase what is already a very dramatic gap in who has insurance coverage and who doesn’t.”

Sibelius adds that if there is no reform enacted…the number of UN-insured people will grow by at least 10 percent in every state of the nation.
