McCain Tells GM Workers Obama Weak On Foreign Policy
Jul 18, 2008
General

Presumed Republican presidential nominee John McCain blasted Democratic rival Barack Obama at a town hall meeting near Detroit today (Fri.)…for opposing the war in Iraq without ever having visited there.

Detroit Public Radio’s Quinn Klinefelter has more…

Obama – who has been criticized by Republicans for a lack of foreign policy experience – plans to travel to Iraq and Afghanistan.

But at a town hall meeting with auto workers in Warren Michigan…John McCain said the news of Obama’s impending trip left him pleased…but also perplexed.

”Senator Obama apparently is gonna sit down for the first time – for the first time ever – with General Petraeus. I’m glad he’s going to Afghanistan. And I’m Astonished – I’m really astonished – that he should give a policy speech on Iraq and Afghanistan before he goes to find out the facts.”

McCain also praised Detroit automaker’s efforts to create electric-powered cars…calling it a boon for both the environment and the economy.
