Ford Recalls 65,000 Pickups For Fuel Tank Issue
Apr 30, 2008
Automotive & Business

2008 Ford F-350

Ford is recalling nearly 65,000 heavy-duty pickup trucks…because of a possible fuel tank problem.  WDET’s Jerome Vaughn has more.

SOQ

The recall includes F-250 and F-350 4x4 pickup trucks from the 2008 model year.  All of the affected trucks have 156-inch wheelbases.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the trucks may not conform to federal fuel spillage requirements.  The federal safety agency says the fuel tank could move forward during a 30 mile per hour crash.  That could damage the fuel delivery module…causing fuel to leak…and increasing the possibility of a fire.

Dealers will repair the problem by installing a bracket on the fuel tanks at no cost to consumers.  Affected owners will be notified by mail within the next few weeks.
