Film Crew Arrests
Mar 3, 2010
Metro Desk

A Detroit film crew has found themselves in trouble with the law after being arrested while filming on the city's Westside.  The crew of four...including one cameraman were held for over an hour and questioned after Detroit Police saw them using fake weapons.  Law enforcement officials say the crew didn't have a permit to film and use the replicas...but the director of the film says he had all of his paperwork in order. Sean Brown is the screenwriter for the film.  He attended yesterday's city council meeting and is hopeful that this mix up will be resolved soon.

"So they really saying that they need to fix the matter and from what I've seen it was the most movement than I've ever seen on this case period."

A trial date for April 21st has been set...a conviction could mean up to 90 days in jail for each crew member and fines. Brown says he's retained a lawyer and still hasn't received a copy of the permit the city's film department granted him.
